Some notes on the video by Mourrice:
We first met and chatted about a third Ai Video for Victoria’s EP Maefield, planned some looks and created concept, then a breakdown for the shoot day. We filmed here at Westbeth in my Studio apartment, shooting Opengate 4.2k RAW with an FX3, Atomos Ninja TX and my Zeiss CP.2 set, on a white background. This time we used a mix of Runway.ai which output up to 10 second clips and Kaiber.ai’s legacy functions that have longer limit ranges. I brought all of this into Davinci Resolve and composited the “magic masked” cuts of her performance over the ai generated backgrounds and foreground elements, then carefully blended each shot and cut.
The blending for this one created these extremely saturated scenes so Victoria’s performance could look actual or real, displaying a depth of character the bridged the artistic ai clips representing 1920’s or 1930’s Harlem New York while also reflecting Deep Blue abstract tones planned for the “Mood Indigo” Effect. We shot with practical Rim-lighting to bring out Victoria’s Silver hair, Dress and small details. The Silver details were beautifully conducive to the heavy Blue Color-Correction Toning present throughout the video. The Mood-Indigo Toning Effect was inspired in talks about the song between Victoria and I, a reference to Archibald Motley’s “Gettin’ Religion”, part of the permanent collection at the Whitney. The painting also inspired the addition of the slo-mo street scenes.
Lastly we Premiered on New Years Day into 2026 and it was a party. We hope you enjoy the video for Mood Indigo by Victoria Horne.
Victoria Horne — “Mood Indigo” Victoria Horne brings you an after-hours jazz dream in deep indigo smoke-soft and slow-burning where every note hangs in the air like a last sip before midnight.
A blue-lit jazz reverie: soft light on the bandstand, shadows in the crowd, and a melody that doesn’t let go.
About the song:
“Mood Indigo” is a jazz standard with music by Duke Ellington and Barney Bigard, and lyrics by Irving Mills.
First associated with Ellington’s orchestra in 1930, it became one of those timeless late-night songs—elegant, aching, and strangely comforting the kind of tune that makes the room feel quieter, closer, and a little cinematic.
